About the Bible

bibleschoolWe believe and teach the Bible as the Word of God. It is authoritative and completely reliable because the authors were given real words from God to write down and God’s Holy Spirit has kept this Word pure from the time it was received until now. “Every Scripture passage is inspired by God. All of them are useful for teaching, pointing out errors, correcting people, and training them for a life that has God’s approval. 17 They equip God’s servants so that they are completely prepared to do good things. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Tim. 3:16-17, GW)

Our teaching of God’s Word centers on two important points—Law and Gospel.

God’s Law, summarized best in the Ten Commandments, tell us that every human being has fallen short of perfection, but the Gospel is that Jesus Christ kept every commandment perfectly. He offered his perfect life for us on the cross, which paid for your sins. He rose again from the dead after three days to prove that He had won the victory. “We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved.” (Acts 15:11, NIV)

We believe that the Holy Spirit works through God’s Word. Whenever it is preached, taught, studied, read, learned or meditated on, the Spirit works to lead people from their sin and draw them to Christ.

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:15-17, NIV)
