Philippians 3.12 tells us, “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me” (NIV).
Many people just live life on their own strength and power, and never really learn to listen to or take the time to get to know Jesus Christ. With all the changes that we are experiencing with COVID-19, the best way to fight fear, worry or boredom is to set our minds on Christ. We can do that by reading God’s word. “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. * ” Colossians 3.16 says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom.” Secondly, praise and thank God for all that He has done for us in Christ—as the latter part of Colossians 3.16 says, “sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.” We sing praise to God at church, but you can do that also at home. Fill your lives with praise and worship. Thirdly, the Bible encourages us to pray without ceasing, which means God never hangs up the phone. Don’t hang up the phone leave it on speaker! His love and concern for us is so great that the Bible says in Isaiah 65.24 “Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. * ” This is how you take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of you.
