Learning the Letter X

Let’s learn about the Letter X today.
1.  What does the letter X look like?  Show your child the uppercase and lowercase X.   Talk about the differences and similarities.
2.  What sound does X make?   I like to sing a song with the students:
    X says /x/.
    X says /x/.
    Every letter makes a sound.
    X says /x/.
3.  Show pictures of objects that start with the letter X.   Talk about more words/objects that start with X or have an X in the word.
4.  Color the X objects on the coloring page or challenge your child to draw a picture of something that has an X. (Click here for the X coloring page)
5.  Search for items around your house that begin with X or have an X in the word.
6.  Practice tracing and writing the letter X. (Click here for the X tracing page)
Extension activities….
Practice writing words that start with X or have an X in the word.
Read a book about a fox or box.
Try to find the letter x in the newspaper, a magazine, a book or while you are on a walk…I Spy the letter X
Try making a X with ojbects…put rocks in place to make a X, use sticks to make a X,  use Pretzels to make a X.
