Learning the Letter Y

Let’s learn about the Letter Y today.
1.  What does the letter Y look like?  Show your child the uppercase and lowercase Y.   Talk about the differences and similarities.
2.  What sound does Y make?   I like to sing a song with the students:
    Y says /y/.
    Y says /y/.
    Every letter makes a sound.
    Y says /y/.
3.  Show objects that start with the letter Y.    Talk about more words/objects that start with y or have an y in the word.
4.  Color the Y objects on the coloring page (Click here for the Y Coloring Page) or challenge your child to draw a picture of something that has an Y.
5.  Search for items around your house that begin with Y or have an Y in the word.
