Our Advent series, The Call of Christmas continues with Joseph—A Call to Faithfully Follow. From Joseph’s story, we see that following Gods plans means that your plans are going to change:
-
“Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, ‘Joseph son of David…’” Matthew 2:19-20 (NIV)
“‘My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,’ says the LORD. ‘And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.’” Isaiah 55:8 (NLT)
And then also from Joseph’s experience, we see that a call to faith means learning to trust God:
- “When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.” Matthew 1:24
“So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, 15 where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: ‘Out of Egypt I called my son.’” Matthew 2:14-14 (NIV)
