Assisting at Worship

There are many opportunities to assist with worship. Cantors chant the responses, or Readers read the Scripture at the worship service. Confirmation students assist as acolytes. Altar Guild prepares the altar for worship. Ushers guide worshipers during the service. Greeters are especially important – they provide the “first impression” of Trinity to visitors, as well as welcoming all.

If you would like to assist, contact the church office. If you would like to understand the responsibilities of a role, talk to the people listed in the section “Those That Serve”.

When in our Music God is glorified
And adoration leaves no room for pride
It is as though the whole creation cride
Alleluia!

How often, making music, we have found
A new dimension in the world of sound
As worship moved us to a more profound
Alleluia!

Let ev’ry instrument be tuned for praise!
Let all Rejoice who have a voice to raise!
And may God give us faith to sing always:
Alleluia!

The music program and offerings at Trinity are truly glorifying to God.

The Adult Choir is an integral part of the traditional Sunday Worship at 8:30 am.  The choir meets from September thru May (academic year) on Wednesday evenings and sings for the 1st service and other selected services (Christmas, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday).  They present a cantata or musical program each year, sing carols for the annual live Nativity, and occasionally, join with other choirs to sing.  Director: Addison Youngblood

The Praise Team is an integral part of the contemporary Sunday Worship at 10:45 AM. The group includes a keyboardist (Brenda Donoho), drummer (Jan Brooks), guitarists (varies) and vocalists.  Currently, the Praise Team meets at 10 AM on Sundays to practice.  New vocalists and instrumentalists are welcome.

Trinity has been blessed with musicians from the University of Illinois School of Music who enhance our worship on occasion.  Also, the church has talented musicians who regularly share their God given talent.  They include:  Brenda Donoho (organist), Carrie Kubetz (organist), and Norma Hesterberg (organist).

If you would like to learn more about or become involved in the music program at Trinity, please contact Pastor Shawn Boylan (pastorshawn@trinity-urbana.org).
